'Video' to 'Audio' conversion using VLC player

VLC media Player:

As always there is competition everywhere. Even in the world of technology every new company would be trying to sell you something good and even better.The VLC media Player was brought into the market by the VideoLAN project and has met with huge success in being a "free application" for playing media files.

Features Of VLC player:

There are some great plus points regarding features of the VLC Player that has resulted in the huge number of downloads worldwide. The main reasons why it is so popular among those familiar with the media world is because

1) Compatablity with numerous kinds of audio and video file formats.
2) Ability to play the video of a file that has not yet downloaded completely or even if it is a damaged video. (So if you are downloading a video using BitTorrent and it is still downloading you can easily view whatever has already been downloaded through the VLC Media player.)

3) VLC player allows you to extract the audio track from a video file.

Many of us are very much familiar with the first two points mentioned.
So, in this article, 'we' also make you much familiar in converting video to audio file.

Many a times when we need any only audio to be carried out in an iPod or any music gadget, we can simply make it until we have that audio file. But in case if you have an video (like any tutorials in which Video is not much important and audio is more important) then we find there is need for conversion of video to audio file.
Well, there may be few soft wares available for that task, but its simple using VLC media player and thus use the main feature of it.

Procedure:

'We have used VLC media player 1.1.9 The Luggage' version in the entire procedure following. The procedure of conversion will be almost similar in all the previous versions and extended versions. So just have an idea with this procedure.

The procedure for that conversion is illustrated with Visuals:

The Procedure looks lengthier in this post because of very detailed and elaborated explanation of steps. But 'we' assure you that there are only 3 to 4 Major steps involved.

Step 1:
Select a video from which you want to Extract audio.Here 'we' selected 'Shah Rukh Lead India Video' from the present using computer. This is shown in the image below



Step 2:
Open VLC media player->Media->Advanced Open File.


Step 3:
After clicking that Advanced Open File, a Open Media window will appear. Here in this Select the file you want to operate on by "Add" button provided under "File" tab of "Open Media Window."


Step 4:
Load the required Video File (That Video file, you wanted to convert into audio file) into the "Processing Unit" of VLC media player by clicking "Open" button present in that window.



Step 5:
After Selecting the file and loading it into the "Processing Unit" with the help of "Open Media" window interface, you have to now select "Convert" Option provided in the list along with "Play" Option in the same window. This is shown int the image below



Step 6:
After Selecting "Convert" Option,then a new window (Convert Window) will appear. There you can see the source file and few other details about the source file. Also we can select the destination file after the required operation performed on the original Video file. Also,we must now Change the default Settings profile as per requirement.Here in this article 'we' need output format as audio file. So we selected the Audio-MP3 file format present in the different list provided.
This is shown below



Step 7:
After its perfectly done with all the Settings profile options, Click on "Start" button appearing in "Convert window".

Step 8:
After Clicking you can observe "Streaming" option appearing on Title bar (at the top) of VLC media player and can also observe that the "Time Slider" will slide from starting to the end very fast while Streaming.

Step 9:
After Streaming is done, the audio file will be generated at the destination folder provided by the user.Here in this process, i selected the destination folder to appear on Desktop.and so the generated audio-mp3 file is generated on Desktop.
The Output Audio file generated is shown on the "Desktop"(as 'we' have opted the destination to be on Desktop in this process). The Audio file on desktop is shown in image below



Step 10:
So, finally the audio File has been generated successfully. All we need to do now is play that audio file once as a part of Checking and ensuring that there is no disturbance introduced while conversion.If there is any disturbance in the generated audio file, then repeat the same process of conversion with different Audio Sampling Rate. Mostly you will not find this problem, So don't worry, Just enjoy..!!

In the following image 'we' have played the audio file using "Windows media Player" along with "DFX plug ins" on 'Windows 7' platform.

Final Note for now:

In the above process it looks as if there are 10 steps as a part of elaborated explanation. But all these steps are simple and easy to implement and has just 3 to 4 major Steps..!! Anyways, just try it out on any small video from your computer in converting into an audio file if you are free now..!!
